Merafe's ferrochrome output slumping 75% year-on-year in H1

Merafe Resources, a South African listed mining firm, has released operational production data. As of June 30, its ferrochrome output from the Glencore‑Merafe Chrome Venture totalled 28,000 metric tons in the first half of 2026, slumping 75% year-on-year from the 112,000 metric tons recorded in the corresponding six-month period of 2025. The company stated that the sharp production decline stemmed from the full shutdown of the Wonderkop and Boshoek ferrochrome smelters, as well as partial operational suspension at the Lion smelter throughout the review period.
